Sisterhood — A new quilt kit from Creations
We are always looking for quilts to show off our Aboriginal prints. The new Sisterhood pattern from Villa Rosa Designs is perfect. It’s an easy quilt to make so it’s fun for everyone.
The finished size of the quilt in the pattern is only 50″ x 64″ so we added additional blocks to make our kit finish at 60″ x 74″. (We have included extra fabric and instructions to complete this size in our kit.)
If you have collected Aboriginal prints, but never used them, then this will be a great quilt for you. Purchase the pattern, background and binding and get started.
Our kit for the Sisterhood Quilt measures 60″ x 74″.
We enlarged the pattern as it calls for only a 50″ x 64″ finish.
In our kit you will also find the background and the binding.
For the backing, purchase:
44″ Directional fabric: 4 3/4yds
44″ Non-directional fabric: 4yds
If you have a collection of Aboriginal prints you want to use, you will need 14 fat quarters (or more) if you are making it the size we did.
You will also need (for the larger size) 1 1/2yds of the black background. We used Chalk and Charcoal from Robert Kaufman so it would not just be a flat black.
Don’t forget the binding. We used the Sandhill Charcoal in black as we love the meandering white lines running thru it. (Purchase 3/4yd)
Now you need a great backing. We have over 100 Aboriginal prints to choose from. Here are a few suggestions. We used the Bush Tucker Red.
Actually, you can’t go wrong with any of the prints. If you want to see them all just click: Aboriginal Prints at Creations
