Yippie Yi Yo Ki Yay from Laura Heine

Laura Heine

Laura’s home has always been Montanta. She began a career as a registered nurse and decided to take a quilting class to be able say say she had made one! Since then, she has made countless quilts and has two grown children.

Her specialty has been machine quilting workmanship. She won the Bernina Award for best machine quilting at Paducah in 1993. Since then she has taught, travelled, written several books as well as designing numerous lines of fabric for different companies.

In 1994, Laura gave up full-time nursing to open a quilt shop, Fiberworks, in Billings. Many of her designs are simple, but her use of color and quilting makes them very interesting!

Hope you like Laura’s new line, Yippie Yi Yo Ki Yay.

You might like to see some of Laura’s collage patterns too. They are lots of fun to make!

Not Ameowsed Christmas Cats

This darling print just showed up….kinda like some of my favorite cats over the years. These precious designs are about 2 – 3 ” tall. You could easily make the Easy On apron in just an evening or two. Imagine, being ready by the end of January, with a holdiay gift for a cat loving friend.

All it takes is 2 yards to make the apron, if you don’t want the big pockets. If you do, allow 2 1/2yds.

You could alwys do a contrast fabric for the bands and pocket. Dig in that stash!

Prairie Song by Leslie Tucker Jennison

Leslie Tucker Jennison

Leslie is an artist who creates contemporary quilts and designs fabric by working directly onto cloth using ProcionMX fiber-reactive dye and paint.

She loves to use unconventional objects and everyday observations to generate imagery.  She is inspired by an eclectic mix of repeating shapes in both natural and man-made environments such as street art in the form of graffiti, stencils, and cracks.

Leslie and her husband moved to San Antionio in 1997 after her career in nursing.  Her work has won awards and been shown internationally.

Hope you will enjoy her new fabric line, Prairie Song.

You might remember her previous collection, Weather Report.

Whale Song by Northcott Fabrics

Northcott has become one of the leaders in the digital printing process. Their fabrics are just beautiful. The color mixes are just amazing.

We loved the new collection, Whale Song, but somehow couldn’t bring ourselves to purchase the big whale panel. Just didn’t think it would be right for South Texas. We did however love the coordinates. Hope you will too.

In case it was the blouse that interested you, here is the Remy Raglan pattern and some great fabric choices.

The Remy Raglan has quickly become our favorite blouse. It’s easy and looks great in any drapy fabric.

The only comment we have heard is that it could be longer. You might want to add a little yardgae to what is on the pattern.

For 44″ wide fabric, purchase 2 yards for sizes 00 – 12 and 3 yards for sizes 14 – 22.

For 54″ wide fabric, purchase 1 1/2yds for sizes 00 – 12 and 2 yards for sizes 14 – 22.

Remember to add to the amount given if you want it longer.
