Let’s Sew Something

Time for a little break from quilts and runners. Let’s do a little simple sewing. It’s fun to have something new to wear that “I MADE MYSELF”. We don’t do complicated or fitted patterns, just comfort and great fabrics.

The Farrow Dress is from Grainline Gear. It’s a simple pullover dress with front pockets. For best results, use a lightweight fabric that has great drape. This is becoming one of our favorite patterns for Fall with the option of a longer sleeve.

Great in Rayon!
Wonderful knit !

Take a look at some of the possibilities to make this garment. This pattern is considered advanced beginner, so bet we could all make this one! The Farrow Dress comes in sizes 0 – 18. If you select a 42″ rayon, you will need 3 1/2yds thru size 10 and 4 yds for sizes 12-18. If you use a 54″ knit or silky noil, you will need 3 1/4yds for sizes 0 – 8, 3 1/2yds for sizes 10-14 and 3 3/4yds for sizes 16 – 18.

We always wash our garment fabrics before we sew them. We put them in a warm washer and warm dryer with a bounce sheet and remove them just before they are toasty dry.

These pieces are 42″ wide rayons:

Love to work with knits. These are great choices as they don’t roll and don’t have too much stretch. These fabrics are 54″ wide.

If solids are more your thing, you will love working with our Silky Noil. It’s a 54″ Linen/Rayon combination. It goes thru the washer and dryer like a dream and has a great drape for this pattern. Check out our colors.
