More Easy Summer Sewing

There are some long hot afternoons ahead of us and it’s a great time to construct some simple summer garments. Might take a little “nap” time away from you, but it will be worth it.

These three great patterns can give you quite the summer wardrobe.

  1. The Hudson pant has been a favorite of ours for years. They are just so comfortable to wear. They run roomy. Purchase 2 1/2yds for any size. Add a little for length if necessary.
  2. The London Shirt is such an easy sew. It is a VERY ROOMY shirt so take that into consideration. In this pattern I get to be an Extra Small!! The yardage is 2 5/8yd for XS-M and 3 yards for L – XL. Lightweight drapey fabrics are your best choice. We used Manchester from Kaufman. It’s 100% cotton and has the look of linen.
  3. Frankie Shift and Top features a pull over dress with or without a flounce sleeve. The version we are showing with the sleeve takes 3 yards XS-L and 3 1/4yds for XL – 4XL

Moda has just begun to offer rayon fabrications with some of their lines. They have definitely done it right in our mind. Their 45″ rayon launders beautifully and has the most wonderfully soft hand. We hope they will do more!

Our London shirt was made from the Manchester Cotton from Robert Kaufman. Great fabric for the look of linen, but the care of cotton.

If you want to add a little sparkle to your life, try our newest Manchester Metallic. White with a silver metallic thread. Dress things up a bit! They do suggest you wash the Manchester Metallic in cold water and line dry, but what’s a bit more effort for glamour!
