Flannel for Fall

We don’t have much “Fall” weather, but when October arrives we are ready for flannel fabrics.

We have a new collection from Marcus Brothers that are true flannels, not just brushed cottons. These woven plaid flannels have been some of our favorties. We love to make our simple Pieces of 8 Quilt with these flannels. This quilt is the perfect man’s quilt.

This is such a simple quilt to make and one of our
most popular. It is just eight 1/2yd pieces. Seven are
used in the quilt and the 8th is the binding.

We started this quilt years ago as a beginner
project, but now the fabrics are so great that
the simple design works to just show off the
fabric.

It measures 52″ x 67″ so its a great size for a
throw.

You might have other ideas for these great flannels so we offer them as cut yardage too. Any of these fabrics would make a great back for your quilt. You will need to purchase 4 1/2yds.

The backing fabric we often use with flannel quilts is Fireside from Moda. This 60″ wide soft fabric is lighter than Minkee and doesn’t shed nearly as much. The pile is low and it’s not shiny. It takes only one width so you will need 2 1/4yds of this fabric to back your quilt.

Not familiar with Fireside from Moda. We’ll show you some of our best selling colors.

Global Luxe Quilt Kit and Fabrics

We’ve never been to Africa, but if there was ever a line of fabrics that could get us thinking about going it would Global Luxe from 3 Wishes Fabric Company. The digital printing process brings the scenery to life with amazing color and clarity.

This is such an interesting use of a panel and the coordinates.

The finished size is 48″ x 48″ and our kit includes the pattern and all the fabrics as shown to complete the wall hanging including the binding.

We also offer just the panel and coordinates if you want to create your own design.

The panel is quite something just
by itself. You can see how it was
used in the quilt above.

The coordinates will stand alone as beautiful fabric!!

Quiltmaina and Simple Moderne Magazines

These are the only two magazines we stock in our shop. Both titles bring beautiful pictures, inspiration and great projects. This is one of the few magazines that you don’t really have the thumb through to see if there is anything “good” inside.

In case you aren’t hooked on them yet and haven’t been able to look inside, we’ll show you a couple of pictures from each.

Take a look inside Quiltmania for a couple of their projects. There are 96 pages of beautiful pictures, great content and interesting project.

If a more modern approach to quilting is your thing, check out Simply Moderne. You will find 125 pages with pull out patterns, articles on quilt exhibits and inspiration on every page.
