Easy Summer Sewing

With the right fabric and a simple pattern, you can construct some wonderful summer garments in a minimum amount of time. We continue to use many of the same patterns we have used for years as the styles are classic and the fit is easy.

The top is Easy, Ageless, Cool from Louise Cutting. We made the pants from Hudson Pants by The Sewing Workshop. Both are multi size and loose fitting.

If you are looking for yardage, purchase 2 1/2yds for the pants and you will be fine unless you are tall. These are ankle length pants.

For the shirt, purchase 2 1/4yds for sizes S – M and 2 1/2yds for sizes L – XL.

We used Art Gallery’s new Andina cotton for the top and Silky Noil for the pants. The fabric in the picture is the Linen color which is that true linen oatmeal color. The off white could be called Ivory. The Very White is very white, but thick enough for pants.

If you just aren’t a light color pant person, then check out these colors of Silky Noil. That Charcoal could go year around!

Sunshine Soul from Create Joy Project for Moda Fabrics

This is the second collection we have had from Moda that was designed by Create Joy Project. Sunshine Soul arrived late last week so we haven’t even had time to make anything ourselves. Knew you would enjoy seeing the newest!

They are offering several of the prints in a cotton/linen fabric which will be great for bags, and pillows. They have also done a 45″ rayon. This will make a great summer top or dress. Check both of these out below.

These fabrics from Moody Blooms are still great choices and work great with the new Sunshine Soul.

Alexander Henry – Great Conversational Prints

Alexander Henry is truly a company that creates wonderful collectible fabric. They are known for their large prints with florals, birds, and ethnic influences. We never know when we will receive merchandise from them so it’s always a fun surprise when we do.

View our newest arrivals. Note: The Hacienda print is the same except the background is a different color. One has a closer view to give a better idea of size.

If you are partial to these designs, you will enjoy seeing some of our other Alexander Henry favorites.

Black and white prints – always a great choice

We love to include black and white prints in our quilts. They always seem to make the other colors work together. Some of our favorite black and white prints are from our Aboriginal textiles. They produce great designs with all the lines, dots, swirls and squiggles.

Take a look at all our Aboriginal prints that are B & W and see if you don’t agree!

Even if the Aboriginal prints add a touch of color, we think they still fit in that Black and White category.

If you are more interested in “traditional contemporary”, we have just added these from Moda along with some of our favorites.

If you want to see all our black and white prints in one place, view them online at Black and White Cottons
