Let’s Sew Something

It’s Spring (almost) and time to sew something for warmer weather. What’s more appealing than a “Big Shirt”? Those great loose fitting brightly colors tops over basic pants just say Spring is here!

We are showing two of our favorite patterns. One is an old favorite, London Shirt. Our newest top pattern is the Remy Blouse from Sew House Seven. This is going to be one of our best patterns as it is easy to construct and offers a 3/4 length sleeve which is very appealing to many of us.

For the London Shirt, you will need 2 5/8yds fabric until the size large and then it will be 3 yds.

For the Remy Blouse, you will need 2 yards thru size 12 and 3 yards for larger sizes.

See our latest rayon prints from Telio Fabrics shipping out of Canada. All of these prints can by washed on warm in the machine and put in the dryer on low with a bounce sheet. You will be amazed how wrinkle free they are coming out of the dryer.

Favorite fabric of the week

With thousands of bolts of fabric, it’s very difficult to choose just one for the “favorite” this week. We just received the 108″ cotton sateen from Robert Kaufman’s Venice collection. These prints are amazing and the sateen is just the silkiest fabric ever.

These 108″ wide fabrics are so much more than a backing. They need to be the front of the quilt. With a width of 108″ you can purchase the length you need, have it quilted, bind it and you have a fabulous bed cover.

Not in the market for a bed cover. Then the option of pillow cases might be the answer. Purchase 1 yard and with the width of 108″ you can make two standard pillowcases. You’ll need to add a band so we have included some prints from the Venice line. Purchase 3/4yd for the band for two. Although these fabrics are not sateen, they will be fine for the band. These yardage suggestions give you allowance for pre-washing.

Morning Light from Linzee Kull McCray

This is the third collection that Linzee has done with Moda featuring feed sack prints. These vintage prints are fun to work with and far more interesting than the reproduction prints from the 30’s. We have pre-cuts as well as yardage in this group.

Want to find out more about feed sack
fabric?

Linzee is also the author of the Feed Sack
book in which she describes the prints used
and gives a great deal of history surrounding
them.

The panel is 24″ x 44″ so it could be the beginning of a quilt or cut the blocks apart to use them independently.
