Quilts for Uvalde

It has been such a special experience to be able to be the vessel to get so many quilts and quilting supplies to Uvalde.

To date we have had 153 quilts given to aid Uvalde. We have also sent 100 small travel pillows for kids to hug. We have had enough batting donated for the Uvalde group to make many more quilts. We have also had fabric donated for them. This small group of quilters has expressed their gratitude as they work completely with donations.

Our only regret is that we couldn’t thank everyone personally for their selfless donations. Just know you are so appreciated. I wish we could have a picture of every quilt sent to Uvalde, but didn’t think about it until the first 37 were already delivered.

We thought you might like to see a sampling of the quilts that are headed to Uvalde. There are quilts in every size, theme, and color. We don’t know who all of these quilts came from as they came in so fast we couldn’t keep up. We just wanted for everyone to see the incredible variety of quilts given.

Valencia from QT Fabrics

Quilting Treasures is the first company to commit to printing 100% of their fabrics digitally. That’s why they can get so many beautiful shades and colors in their newest line Valencia.

Wonder what else we might have that is a digital print? Northcott is another company that has got the process down. Their latest digital line has been very well received in the shop. Take a look.

90″ Minkee from QT Fabrics

We have just added 5 colors in the luscious 90″ wide fabric. It will be great for quilt backs as you won’t have to piece the fabric.

We must admit it creates a bit of fuzz when we cut it and we’ve found we need to bring out the little vacuum cleaner to get ready for the next fabric. With that said, we are making our minimum cut for this fabric 2 yards. We will be glad to cut any amount over two yards.

Frisky from Zen Chic

The designer behind Zen Chic is Brigitte Heitland. I think it’s fun to know a little about a designer that has had such an influence on modern fabric designs. Brigitte is the mother of three children and lives with her family in Germany. She had a former career in interior and textile design. A seamstress for many years, Brigitte discovered quilting about ten years ago.

Brigitte shows a modern, sophisticated style in her designs.  They are characterized by simple designs and harmonious color. Brigitte launched her brand ZEN CHIC in 2010 with her quilt patterns and soon added fabric designs.  She teaches classes on contemporary quilting techniques and the use of color. We just need a trip to Germany!!

Frisky is her latest collection from Moda.

Brigitte has also done some other fun collections for Moda. One of our favorites is Celestial.

Celestial also offered a cotton/linen combination fabric that works great for tote bags and purses.

Dance in Paris was the collection before Celestial. As you can see, Brigitte is a talented designer.
