Feathered Friends from Clothworks

Sue Zipkin designs for Clothworks and we love just about everything she does. Her newest line, Feathered Friends, will be fun to work with as the coordinats are great too.

It’s hard to see these darling
birds so we have included a few
of the individual panels so you
can see how special they are.

Each one is about 7″ square before
the sashing fabric.

These are the coordinates that work with the panel.

Pillows for Uvalde

We have been emotionally overwhelmed by the absolute generosity of quilters in our state and beyond. After our trip to Uvalde a week ago to deliver 37 quilts, batting and fabric, we thought we might see a few more quilts coming in this week.

Customers and friends began arriving and kept coming all week long. We now have 77 quilts and blankets to take on our next trip. There are 47 quilts and 30 Super Hero/Disney blankets. (Kids will love these.) We have also received batting and large pieces of fabric to help the Quilts of Grace group in Uvalde continue to make quilts.

Creations decided we wanted to give 100 pillows (12″ x 16″) which are just the right size for a child to hug. The gals at Creations helped us stitch some and we were plugging along.

“The Flushers” were at The Main House this week and we thought we might wrangle this group of gals into helping us. They not only helped, but took over and finished stitching the 100 covers and then put the pillow forms in all of them. Our deepest thanks to this wonderful group of friends.

Just a pile to show the colorful huggable pillows.

It’s hard to know what to do to help in this or any situation like it. Whatever we do, it is theraputic for ourselves as well as the community of Uvalde. Pick a way to help if you are so inclined. Donate a quilt, batting, fabric, thread and we will be the vessel to get it there. If you are comfortable with a monetary donation, The Community Foundation has a fund to help Uvalde. It is closely controlled so when we made our donatons we felt confident the money would be used wisely. Check them out at The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

P & B Little Darlings

We were so happy to be able to reorder the missing pieces from the Little Darlings collection by P & B Fabrics. The panel sold out quickly as did most of the coordinates. Each of the animals is about 8″ x 9 1/2″.

Such sweet faces
Adorable face

Bet we won’t be lucky enough to get these again when they are gone. Don’t miss out this time.

Two Quilt Kits – One Little Pattern

Have you tried the Villa Rosa Quilt patterns yet. This company specilaizes in simple patterns that often feature fat quarters. One of our favorite ones is Cloud Nine.

Cloud Nine uses just 12 fat quarters, one yard of background
and 5/8yd of binding.

The quilt is approximately 54″ x 70″ and the pattern is just $2.98.

This is one of those quick quilts that could be made from so many
different fabrics.

It would also be easy to enlarge the quilt by making more rows
and/or making each row longer!

In all our 45 years, we have never had a finished Halloween quilt in the shop and we decided it was about time.

We had such fun picking fat quarters for this fun kit.

It takes just 12 fat quarters, one yard of background, and 5/8yd for binding

Our kit includes all of these as well as the pattern. We used orange Fireside as our backing, but black, purple, or grey would also be good choices. Use this link: Fireside to order 2 1/4yds.

If a more traditional look is what you are after, then Moda’s new collection from French General is perfect. This collection features all those shades of red, grey, taupe, and tan that mix so beautifully together.

Our kit contains
3 /12yds of fabric.

There will be a crosswise seam with this yardage.

For a lengthwise seam you will need 4 1/2yds.

Here are a few other suggestions for the back of the quilt in case you want another color or a lengthwise seam.

If you are looking for quick quilts then check out some of our favorite Villa Rose Designs.
