La Grande Soiree from French General for Moda

Twenty years ago, French General began in a barn along the Hudson River in upstate New York.  Open once a month, the barn was filled with all of Kaari’s favorite things – old French linen sheets, 19th century floral textiles and tickings, French buttons, beads and ribbon.   Eventually the shop moved to New York City, and then to Los Angeles – where French General continued to grow into what it is now.  It is a shop, a workshop offering classes on every manner of stitching, block printing and natural dyeing, and a design studio for Kaari and her husband, JZ.

French General began designing fabric and quilt patterns for Moda in 2008 with their first collection, Rouenneries.  Since then, Kaari and JZ have designed over 30 collections and 60 quilt patterns.

(It’s always interesting to learn the history of the desginers who create the fabrics we love.)

La Grande Soire mixes beautifully with the very traditional reds and taupes that the French General brand is known for.

Want a kit already done? Try our Cloud Nine….

Our French General quilt kit uses the pattern Cloud Nine from Villa Rosa Designs so you know it’s quick and easy to make.

The quilt finishes approx 54″ x 70″ so it’s a great size for a throw.

Make it easy and get the backing kit at the same time!!

Eufloria by Create Joy Project for Moda

Laura Muir

Create Joy Project is a fine-art centric brand by Laura Muir. She is from Utah and every piece of art Laura creates echoes her love of nature.

Laura works in watercolor & mixed media. She has recently begun sharing her beaufiful desings on fabrics produced by Moda. She uses texture, attention to detail, movement, and wildly fun florals in her latest fabric line.

Eufloria is the third collection we have had of Laura’s. All her prints and tonals blend beautfully together. It’s hard to tell where one ends and the other starts.

There are now 108″ wides in her watercolor tonals.

Eufloria is here.

We have two wide backs that work with any of Laura’s fabrics.

Laura’s previous collection — Chickadee.

Cheer & Merriment

This is another cute Holiday line from Moda. The panel has so many possibilites. We chose to do a wall hanging, but you could easily use our pattern and turn the individual blocks into placemats. It’s always hard to see the artwork when showing the entire panel so we are including close-ups of 3 of the designs.

You can make your runner using 3, 4, 5, or 6 of the blocks in the panel. Your sizes can range from 19″ x 36″ to 19″ x 71″.

If you use only 3 blocks, you can make 2 runners or use the left overs to do an improv collage backing.

You will need 6 fat quarters, 1/4yd for the inner border and 5/8 yd for the outer border. (Binding will come from left over fat quarters.)

You will need to purchase 1 1/4yds for the backing.

We still have the charm packs for this group…. Just stitch them together for a cute table cover!
