Fabrics We Carry

Creations has an extensive collection of quilting cottons from the top manufacturers. We love to bring you the latest lines available as we discover new companies and designers. We are constantly adding to the fabric collections we carry as we search for the best batiks, contemporary, traditional, and modern fabrics.

We also carry a variety of fabrics for clothing. We love to sew clothing and we enjoy using linens, cottons, and knits. .

In our shop, you can find cotton homespun, flannel, rayon batik as well as wool blends. We love to a variety of fabrics and enjoy both sewing and quilting. You will find lots of models to inspire you.

We’re always on the lookout for unusual fabrics for sewing projects. Two of the newest we have tried are Cork and Kraft-tex. Cork is just tha. It comes from the cork tree out of Portugal. It’s great as an accent on a bag or the base for hand or machine embroidery. Kraft-tex is a paper based product that can be washed, and stitched on, much like leather. Come take a look at these and other great sewing fabrics in the shop.

Creations’ History

Creations Opened in 1978

Creations was established in 1978 during the “polyester doubleknit era”. I (Kathy) opened the doors with all natural fiber — not one “poly” among us!! That was quite revolutionary during the 70’s. We were often told “I’ll be back when you get some doubleknit!” The picture is of our original location on Water Street.

We added quilting cottons to our inventory in the early 80’s, but we never lost touch with our love for clothes sewing — sometimes you need a little instant gratification. We’re finding that lots of others who have been away from clothing construction are “coming home” too.

In the mid 80’s, I was joined by my sister Julie. She brought with her all those “business skills” that are so necessary. After a few years we decided to incorporate and both have become equal shareholders.

From Our House to Yours

In the early 90’s we opened a second store, From Our House to Yours, located in the historic Rawson home, built circa 1895. That store specialized in home decorating – home dec fabrics, new and old quilts – antiques and accessories for the home and garden and was well known for the frozen cappuccino we offered customers.

We speak of it here in the past tense, because we decided to combine the two businesses. So, From Our House to Yours closed in January of 2000. The historic Rawson home became the home of Creations.
