GETTING FROM CREATIONS IN KERRVILLE ......

TO READY TO SEW BERNINA
IN CEDAR PARK
Approximate driving time: 2 hours 30 minutes + a bit

This is our longest drive without a "quilt shop fix" so buckle up and get going. This will take you a little over 2 1/2 hours so we might need to make a few rest stops along the way.

As you pull out of the alley that runs behind Creations and the Mini Mart, turn to the right. It's just a few hundred feet to the light and then turn Left on Hwy 27 (or Main Street).

At the 3rd stoplight, turn to the Right. The Courthouse will be on your right. This road is Hwy 16 (or Sidney Baker). Seems in Kerrville we couldn't decide what to name our streets and many have two names.

Hwy 16 will take you about 23 miles to Fredericksburg and your next turn. Doubt you will see any bluebonnets along this route, but there are some lovely hills and beautiful scenery.

As you near Fredericksburg, you will see the High School on your right. There is a stoplight just past the High School - turn Right. This is Highway Street. Proceed thru the next intersection and keep going until you have to turn - go to the Right. The street sign says Main Street, but it is also Hwy 290. You are now headed straight for Johnson City... it's about 30 miles.

There might be limited bluebonnets along this ride, but you just might see some buffalo and longhorns. Just a few miles after you pass thru the own of Stonewall, you will see the LBJ Park. Just after the park, there is a large field with potential for buffalo sightings. There will probably be a longhorn or two mixed in the group.

Once you get into Johnson City, there is a great place to stop and have a bite to eat (great hamburgers)... it's the Silver K Cafe in the old lumberyard. As you go thru the "downtown" area of Johnson City, you will pass a light at Nugent Avenue. You will see the Silver K Cafe on your left just a block up. Highly recommend it if you are hungry!

As you continue on thru Johnson City, veer to your Left and follow the sign that says 281 North to Marble Falls. You will turn to the Left and head on to Marble Falls. It's about 23 miles. If you are beginning to need a Starbucks break, we sighted one just this side of Marble Falls. It's right before the big bridge at the FM 2147 Light. It's a right turn and you will see it sitting up on a hill. Might be a nice time for a break.

Coffee BreakYou are going to go all the way into Marble Falls, it's about 5 miles past the turn off for Hwy 71. If you are hungry and want some "home cooking", you might try the Bluebonnet Cafe--- nothing fancy but good food. Bluebonnet Cafe is on the right side shortly after you pass the bridge.

We are going to turn to the Right on 1431. There is a sign that points the way to Cedar Park and also a Texaco station on the right. Cedar Park is 38 miles. This is a Farm to Market road so it will test your driving skills. It's a two lane road in portions, but it's great for some really beautiful Hill Country scenery. Those of you who are City Slickers will get to cross a cattleguard on this road... so be sure to watch out for livestock and wildlife! The last part of this road becomes a 4 lane highway so forge ahead. You will definitely be able to tell when you reach civilization. It's only about 20 miles to Lago Vista so the twisting and turning portion of this drive isn't too long. Lago Vista is also a great spot to find lots of gas stations if it's time for that.

After Lago Vista, it's only 11 miles ot Cedar Park. It's a roller coaster drive, but at least it's 4 lanes.

You're almost there...
You will keep driving on 1431 until you cross 183. You can't miss it... lots of signage and the Pedernales Electrical poles are on the right. Continue thru this intersection. You will go straight, passing under 183A Toll, about 3 miles until you see the Home Depot on your right.

Once you get to the Home Depot, continue just a bit further and turn in to the Right at the Whataburger. After you turn, you will see HEB in the shopping center to your Left. Ready to Sew Bernina is 3 doors from HEB.
